Sundays used to be my full food prep day and then it became my modified food prep day. Now Sunday has become a NO food prep day. Given a very hectic schedule and working 6 days a week, I was getting burnt out and in need of a full day of rest.
So Sundays are for rest, relaxation, family and friends. I understand this probably doesn’t work for everyone but it has been working for me. There has defintely been some adjusting but I am defintely reaping the benefits. So here is my new routine:
Thursday, Friday or Saturday I will make a run to the grocery store. I typically like cooking on the weekends so I may need something in addition to my staples bought on Monday to make the meals. I will also grab some easy to make meals or a pre-made bowl for my work lunch on Monday.
Monday on my lunch break, I put a list of items I need from the store, for work lunches and dinners.
I stop by the grocery store on the way home from work on Monday.
I typically eat a simple dinner and then right after I begin making my work lunches while watching tv or catching up on my favorite podcasts for the work week as well as any mini-sides that may make making dinner easy.
I must admit, I thought not food prepping anymore on Sunday was going to throw everything off but it hasn’t. It did take a little getting used to and a little more planning ahead during the week but overall it is so worth it. There really is nothing like having a day focused on rest. The grocery store, the lunch box and dinner will be there on Monday, so for now I am going to enjoy my Sunday.
